Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

Santa Teresa is fabulous for a solo, make-your-own-yoga-retreat in the spring, or a remote party town over New Year's Eve.  For the former:

Stay at Hotel Nautilus; the lovely Israeli couple who owns it will take great care of you & the totally organic food is the best I've ever had, on earth.  Rent a bike for the week (~$40) from the local ice cream shop. Do morning yoga with Stefano at Flora Blanca, but don't stay there unless you're with a significant other!  There's also yoga at Nautilus, and Pranamar, and multiple other spots.

Have lunch at Zwart Art Cafe, have a beer on the beach at sunset, make friends and head to Kika for drinks & live music, take surfing lessons, and simply relax and enjoy this one-dirt-road-town before they pave the road.
