Margaret River, Australia

The three hour drive down from Perth is gorgeous, and the town is quaint yet alive with gourmet restaurants, shops, taverns, and live music.  The unique combination of wineries (hundreds!), breweries and surf (it’s right on the ocean) gives Margaret River a great vibe and inimitable beauty.
Loaring Place is a wonderful bed and breakfast which – thankfully – lacks floral bedspreads and poofy curtains.  It’s nestled in the woods just 4 minutes from town and 3 minutes from the ocean, and Dirk, the owner, will make you feel right at home.  Kangaroos may even hop right up to your private deck.  Not a bad spot to enjoy some wine.
Enjoy a casual dinner at the happenin’ spot “Settler’s Tavern” – great food, a million beers on tap, ten million wines by the glass, and live bands almost nightly. Life is good in Margaret River.
Check out the“Wine For Dudes” wine tour (apparently the town’s ‘party’ wine tour), but book in advance! If that doesn't happen check out the "Cheers" tour, and visit several gorgeous wineries  including Redgate, Watershed, Knotting Hill), the Colonial Brewing Company; a lavender farm (although – let’s be honest – lavender infused wine is just weird); a cheese factory; a chocolate factory and a Venison butcher shop (venison chorizo!).

Watershed Winery also has a gorgeous restaurant.
In addition to enjoying one of the best radio stations ever on your drive back up to Perth, make stops at the stunning Canal Rocks Road and Bunker Bay.
